The Scenic Rail Pass is an easy to use, great value pass allowing you to travel around New Zealand on the Tranz Scenic rail network at your own pace. The pass is designed for independent travellers who want to experience a rail vacation or get the best out of their holidays to New Zealand and experience the true beauty and benefits of train travel.

You can choose your own route, stop when you like, and travel as many times as you wish within the validity of this flexible pass - hop on and off our tourist trains where and when you wish.

From the Overlander to the award winning TranzAlpine (considered one of the great scenic railway journeys of the world), your train is sleek, comfortable, and relaxing. All Tranz Scenic trains include an open air viewing area.

Our carriages are carpeted, centrally heated and air-conditioned, so you can sit back and enjoy the view from your panoramic window. All trains are licensed and include a buffet carriage where you can purchase a wide selection of light meals and snacks.

The Overlander service operates a off peak and peak timetable, dates of this service are as follows:

Off Peak Timetable: Operates 3 days (Friday, Saturday, Sunday) from Friday 7 May to Sunday 27 June 2010 and from Friday 23 July to Sunday 19 September 2010 and from Friday 6 May 2011 to Sunday 25 September 2011.

Peak Timetable: Operates 7 days (Monday to Sunday) from Friday 25 September 2009 to Sunday 2 May 2010 and from Friday 2 July to Sunday 18 July 2010 and from Friday 24 September 2010 to Sunday 1 May 2011 excluding Christmas Day.
